Major Arcana Series- the Emperor

The Emperor is card number 4 in the Major Arcana. We continue with the Major Arcana Series with the Emperor interpretations as follows below:

Overview:

The Emperor is a male authority represented by a judge, the police a civic leader or a role model. He is also ruled by Aries, a sign of leadership, reason, energy and action but also a sign of danger. The situation is a very structured environment, with lots of rules, policies and procedures in place that you need to obey. The Emperor in this position brings an opportunity. You need to act with force and determination, meaning you need to reach decisions, plan resources and set goals in order to take advantage of this opportunity.

Issues and Problems:

Someone in your life can be controlling of your relationships or wants to take the lead.  In this situation it can be that you are better off out of this relationship. The Emperor in this challenges position represents a father figure in your life that uses excessive force, does not allow for second opinions or loses control. You need to be practical, dispose of useless wishes and illusions and concentrate on what it is and what you have. Another challenge with the Emperor is that you may have given away your power to another person and need to boost your self-esteem.

Advice:

Your financial situation needs planning and revision. Start right now! An authority figure is protecting you and will advise you in the right direction, but continue to keep your eyes wide open. You have the necessary leadership qualities and you are able to assume responsibility. The solution lies in your power, vision and life passion to achieve your ambitions. You can accomplish anything you want as long as you have a clear purpose. The Emperor in business involves real estate transactions, buying or selling property. Issues around the house ownership are being resolved.

The Emperor in the picture above is presented in four decks, in order as follows: #1 the Tarot of Jane Austen d, #2 Tarot of the Celtic Faeries, #3 the Nicoletta Ceccoli Tarot and #4 the Dark Grimoire Tarot.

Thomas Bertram of Mansfield Park represents the Emperor in the first deck. His stature is imposing and intimidating. Drawn as big as the building behind him, this card indicates power and authority, as well as wealth. You may have your own way of thinking in doing things and expect others not to interfere in any away. Mr Bertram has a sense of  justice which he applies swiftly when he notices that his niece Fanny Price is living in colder quarters of the house. He immediately moves her with the rest of the family to rectify the situation. Eventually he may be using power over the member of the family in a different direction than they choose,  appearing as a strong "parental figure". In real life, the Emperor can represent a strong, authoritive man that exercises power over you or an employer who is pushing you. If this card represents yourself, you are concise and have the power to do good for yourself and others.

In deck #2 we see Dagda, the king of all fairies. The author of the deck, Mark McElroy justifies his choice of Emperor because he likes the tension between the restraint suggested by "the mastery of musical arts" and his bad temper. When this card is drawn, you are invited to explore what role the restrictions and regulations play into your situation. Even though rules seem to limit us, in music they also produce beautiful things. Before you can ignore the rules and make improvisations you need to learn to master them.

In Nicoletta Ceccoli's deck, the Emperor is needed to take command and leadership. In her concept the Emperor is a father figure, a role model. This card indicates a time to start building your career, your life, your "empire".

In the last deck, the Emperor is represented by the occultist Rudolph II. We are being told in the white book that accompanies the deck that the Emperor receives a translation of fragments from the Necronomicon from two famous court  magicians: John Dee and Edward Kelly. He holds the secret knowledge of making "gold dust". In the picture the Emperor is surrounded by 2 servants, former alchemists who are now turned into creatures.
