It is easier to make readings if you know your personal tarot card based on your astrological sign.
Here is a list of all the signs and their tarot correspondent Major arcana cards:

1. Aries- Emperor (IV)- Mar 21-Apr 19
2. Taurus- The Hierophant (V)- Apr 20-May 20
3. Gemini- Lovers (VI)- May 21- June 20
4. Cancer- The Chariot (VII)- June 21-July 22-23 depending on year
5. Leo- Strength (VIII or XI)- I use VIII- July 21 - Aug 20 depending on year
6. Virgo- Hermit (IX) Aug 21-Sep 20
7. Libra- Justice (XI or VIII) - I use XI- Sep 21- Oct 22
8. Scorpio- Death (XIII)-Oct 23- Nov 21-22
9. Sagittarius- Temperance (XIV) Nov 23- Dec 21
10. Capricorn- The Devil (XV) Dec 22- Jan 19
11. Aquarius- The Star (XVII) Jan 20- Feb 18
12. Pisces- The Moon (XVIII) Feb 19- March 20

The other 10 major arcana cards represent the 10 planets.

1. Uranus- The Fool (O)- can also represent Aquarius
2. Mercury- The Magician (I)- governs Virgo and Gemini
3. Moon- High Priestess (II)- Cancer
4. Venus- Empress (III)- Taurus and Libra but more Taurus
5. Jupiter- Wheel of Fortune (X)- Sagittarius
6. Neptune- Hanged Man (XII)- Pisces
7. Mars- Tower (XVI)- Aries
8. Sun- Sun (XIX)- Leo
9. Pluto- The Judgement (XX)- Scorpio
10. Saturn- The World (XXI)- Capricorn

There is some controversy regarding the assignment of certain planets to certain cards.
Such as:
1.The Chariot for Mars instead of Towers.
2.The Emperor for Jupiter instead of Wheel of Fortune
3.The Tower for Uranus instead of Mars
4.The Death for Neptune instead of Hanged Man
5.Hermit for Saturn instead of World
It does not matter which one you choose as long as you settle which card represents what BEFORE the reading.
